This 375 year old firm is well known for their high quality firearms. Beretta produced a few pistols for ISU competition disciplines. This pistol is one of the earlier models and their production .22 pistol was used as platform to develop the competition model. This M1947 pistol has Walnut grips with a thumb rest which is more stable and comfortable than a lot of other competition pistols. The barrel is located to the frame in a different way than the production pistols, to make it more secure in the frame. The 220mm long barrel which lengthens the sight radius has an integral muzzle brake and excellent competition sights fitted to it. The trigger has a humpback shape but mechanism is the same as used for the production M948 but the trigger can be set for weight. The pistol won Olympic rapid fire competitions. This match pistol can be compared to Tanfoglio and Bernadelli target pistols in Italy, as well as the French and American competition pistols. (ref. Pistols and revolvers, p663 by Smith + Smith)
