See the development history of the pistol with International Medalist I. International Medalist Mk 1 and 2 were dedicated Olympic sport pistols. It is very strange that FN manufactured this model in France and not in Belgium. The International Medalist Mk 2 did not have a bull barrel but was manufactured from a block of steel, it then differs from the first model with a flat sided barrel with a non-ventilated rib. The counter weights are now fitted under the barrel and not in front of the trigger guard. There is an adjustable palm rest and it now has a non glare finish. The rear sight has a micrometer adjustment for windage and elevation. The trigger is adjustable for weight of pull and backlash. The Medalist has a dry-firing mode of operation for practicing. There is no magazine safety. (ref. Price guide for collector handguns by R H Balderson )
