Dornheim AG of Suhl, Germany. “GECADO” was the trade name of the company G.C. Dornheim AG in Suhl/Germany. This company just sold handguns made made by other producers under their own brand. Before 1939 they sold the Spanish Eibar-Pistol “SEAM” as “Gecado” the trade name by Dornheim AG of Suhl, Germany. These 'Eibar' type automatics of average or less quality and finish, chambered in 6.35mm and 7.65mm and marked with the word 'Gecado' in a diamond. Post-war models were much the same as those manufactured before the war but the safety was in a different position and they were marked 'Gecado Mod 11 Cal 6,35 (.25) Made in Germany'. During this period they also sold the “SM-11” pistol of the “Rhoener Sportwaffen GMBH”, and the “Arminius HW-3” revolver of the company “Hermann Weihrauch Waffenfabrik, Meellrichstadt, Germany” as “GECADO”. The frames of the German made Gecado firearms are all made from die cast non-ferrous alloys. These are steel liners cast into the barrels and strategic parts, like hammers, firing pins, locks and levers, are steel as well. The law in California ban these firearms from gun dealers and their premises, but they are allowed with citizens for possession and sale. They technical specification is these fire arm frames must withstand 800C temperatures and not melt. This will also exclude Colt’s Deringers. Strangely this law does not effect handguns with polimer frames. Collector interest in this type of pistol is typically low, value nearly none, except personal interest..
