The company Manufacture d’Armes de Pyrenees of Hendaye was started in 1923 and continue to the present day. Their principle products were blowback pistol in 6.35mm and 7.65mm. Before 1940 they manufactured pistols of Browning’s designs and sold it under various names. After 1945 the designs were more original and they used the name Unique. Their target pistols started with the DES 69, based on the production pistol, with a long barrel, wide trigger, balance weights, extended sight base with micrometer rear sight and special grips. The VP-79 is a original design, Olympic Rapid Fire sport pistol. The barrel was cut from a square block of steel to add weight to the pistol. The barrel has magna ported and the sight radius was extended over the grip. The trigger is adjustable for weight and length of pull. The grip is adjustable for hand size, but it is still too small for large hands.
