Browning would later license the A5 mechanism with Remington to produce it as their Model 11 and Sportsmen (it was also built under license by Savage as their model 720, Franchi as their AL-48, in Italy by Breda as Automatic 12, and in Russia by TOZ). The Model 11 was the first auto-loading shotgun made in the USA. Atis used this design for their semi-auto. This gun is a self loading weapon and the action operates on a modified version of the long recoil principal as developed by Browning in his A5. The action still uses the sliding movement of the barrel to absorb recoil, discharge the spent case and load the fresh round. An interesting brass split ring concept is used to brake the cycling of the action and absorbing recoil, while ammo with different loadings are used. The trigger and safety mechanism is modified by the manufacturer. Like most A5 mechanisms, the Atis does not like lightly loaded ammunition, use 32/35gr ammo. When a Improved Modified (3/4 choke)or tighter choke is used on the gun it might not cycle. It is best used with an open bore, an improved choke or modified choke.
